HK USP .45 Full size
I heard this model was good; guy said he put 1'500 rounds through it before it jammed from lack of cleaning. Any experience or input regarding this, as I have no clue what I am talking about?

I've owned several HK's. I had a pair of sequentially numbered HK Tactical pistols (do you have ANY idea how hard THAT was to get those?) plus two or three others. ALL in 45 acp. Great pistols. You best have a large hand, cause they are rather large. Unless you pick up one of the compact ones. They are an easy pistol to fire BECAUSE of their size. Can't go wrong with an HK. And yeah, 1500 rounds SHOULD be an easy number to reach without cleaning this one. Gotta love the HK's. Of course, having said that, I had a guy offer me WAY MORE for my collection of HK's than I had in it, so I sold them. Glad I did. I don't shoot the 45 acp anymore. My wrists end up hurting the next day. I generally shoot at least 500 rounds per session. Minimum. Now I just shoot thirty caliber bullets or smaller. MUCH easier on this old mans wrists. |

When I travel I always learn two phrases. In Germany they would be:
Warum bin icht verhaftet?? and Wo ist die Amerikanishe botschaft? why am I being arrested and where is the American embassy? :D |

hkpro.com has some really good forums about HK firearms in general. AR15.com is another good resource for firearms related material (and survivalism)

Re: HK USP .45 Full size
HK firearms--rifles, pistols, shotguns--are all high quality, highly reliable, professional grade and expensive...including all service, parts, spare magazines, and accessories.
I would agree with Goldfinger to keep it SIMPLE, AFFORDABLE, and SELF-SERVICEABLE...Glocks and AKs would be at the top of this list. |

Re: HK USP .45 Full size
I'm sure the HK is a fine weapon, but I suggest a used Glock 21 or 30, some magazines, and ammo. Then I'd start studying before deciding on which battle rifle to purchase.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MK23_Mod_0 Awesome for showing off at the range, target shooting, and useful for military assault teams.... (but not Joe Citizen). However, for practical carry, I would prefer a GLOCK anyday, they are light, they can take abuse the H&K probably can't, they don't have to be wonderfully clean, and yet they still go bang. You want the thing to be simple, and go bang when your life is in danger. You are not worried about MOA accuracy, you want to hit something vital... numerous times if required, until the threat goes away. Happily, they also don't cost a fortune like the H&Ks do. There is nothing wrong with carrying a H&K, some elite military units love them, along with the SIGs, but you must keep it very clean, have flipping off a safety down to an instinct, know the gun intimately, and take real good care of it. For most people, that is a hassle, and something will go wrong, preventing necessary "bang-age". |

This is the original post from a long time ago.
MUST SEE, credit to some GIM er from the past. I am still waiting for the guys videos, I guess he is busy. http://www.theprepared.com/index.php...iew&id=90&Item The best hand gun I ever shot in my life was a full size .40 Glock with custom rubber grips slipped over it. Fit my hand perfectly, my accuracy was amazing with it, even with fast shooting. I have almost shot them all at gun range, learned a lot doing it. |
